Opens at Chorman Field

Hangar 6 Aero Services, the light aircraft repair and inspection firm,
has relocated to Chorman Field at Greenwood, Del.
The move coincided with sale of the ÒRed EagleÓ hangar at New Castle
County Airport (NCCA), Del., where the firm had leased space since 1995,
said William L. Stover, proprietor.
The firm was started in 1981 in small ÒTÓ hangar No. 6 at NCCA by
pilot-mechanic Roger Robinson. Stover joined him in 1995 and bought the
business last summer.
Stover, 46, has been in aircraft maintenance for 28 years, including
three years in the Army as a helicopter mechanic and crew chief. He earned
his airframe and powerplant license in 1983 at Quaker City School of Aeronautics
in Philadelphia. He holds FAA inspection authorization.
Stover encourages Òowner participation,Ó in which pilots perform
non-critical tasks during annual inspection of their aircraft. ÒPilots learn
a lot about their planes and they save money,Ó he says.
Chorman field, designated D74, is about 11 miles southwest of Millford.
Its north-south runway is 3,800 feet long. A  sod strip parallels the
runway.
The field is owned and operated by Allen Chorman, one of the busiest
agricultural aerial applicators on the peninsula.
Aircraft maintenance runs in the Stover family: Wife Anne is a lead
mechanic for Delta Air Lines at Philadelphia. The Stovers, residents of
Townsend,
Del., have three sons.
